While the Inuit with the establishment of Nunavut at the 1.April achieved 1999 a limited autonomy, this process is not yet final with the Chipewayan. Is the more important the expedition with users of both peoples, under guidance of an experienced indianischen Elder, for to the today almost unexplored Canadian north.  The western part of this area is for the Chipewayan, the eastern hunt traditional for the Inuit for thousands of years and Trappergebiet.  Start 19.  Century begin British, Canadian, to pull American and Norwegian discoverers and adventurers through the country and give first reports.  Legendary and also tragic meaning gets John Hornby.

After three weeks of arduous journey is finally the wasserscheide achieved.  The Chipewayan Joseph Catholique shoots a Caribou, welcome supplement of the scarce becoming food.  Over Whitefish and Lynx Lake goes it into the delta of the Thelon.  River downward the expedition team paddelt now by beautiful landscapes to the first supplying base.  To supplement of the lebensmittelvorraete is far direction ingot of country.  But is missing the hoped for summers in this year.  Violent north winds again and again prevent the kanus from driving on, become that paddles the extraordinary effort.  In addition come over 20 current-fast, which require full application from all users and the boats.  Nevertheless the team achieves the Thelon of protected area according to plan and approaches the second Food drop.

But the Tyrrell Bluffs is driven through before, that enormous barrier of full wasserfaelle and rapid currents, by which itself the Thelon direction the east obligations must.  It becomes a dramatic day!  Already in the morning kentern two kanus, under it also the boat of the camera team.  Lost, but must be inserted later one drying day goes to nothing, in order to repair the equipment.  Fortunately all remain when occurring the Canyon intactly.  The search to the old Cabin and the graves of Hornby and its two companions, which died here 1926, has few days after success.  But also the team now feels the efforts of the passed weeks, particularly since the weather becomes clearly worse.  Nevertheless the last 14 days bring incomparable impressions in a unique nature, under it numerous meetings with Moschusochsen.  At the large lakes the families of the two Inuit Roy and Jason already come to meet the expedition.  There is a seeing again after 11 weeks.  The arrival in Bakerlake becomes the large celebration at that the whole settlement participates.
